Overview of the Position: Responsible for providing the necessary functions to capture all charges in a timely and appropriate manner.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree in related field preferred
• 1-2 years of medical billing or medical industry knowledge
• eClinicalWorks experience preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel and Word

Essential Job Functions:
These essential job functions are required of the Charge Capture Specialist based upon departmental and organizational guidelines, processes, and/or policies. It is the Charge Capture Specialist’s responsibility while working to ensure excellence in service for the internal and external customers.
• Enter charges into current billing software system.
• Complete necessary research for posting discrepancies.
• Submit monthly flip sheet to LabCorp.
• Coordinate charge codes with Coding Department.
• Work with other organizational sites and pharmacies to assure charge reports are received timely for keying.
• Assist Billing Specialist with charge questions.
• Perform work in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies/procedures and departmental/organizational standards in regards to HIPAA and other government requirements.
• Attend and participate in departmental and organizational meetings and continuing education opportunities
• Demonstrates and promotes a positive patient/customer service attitude
• Assist with assuring departmental goals are achieved within given parameters.
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Candidate has less than 5 years of medical payment posting experience
Charge Capture Specialist III
• Candidate has more than 5 and/or

Physical Requirements:
Must possess the ability to communicate in the dominant language of the geographic region. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits is required. Must have manual dexterity to key in data; utilize computer, grab, grip, hold, tear, cut, sort, and reach.
