Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the President, this individual will lead the company's financial strategy while serving as a trusted business partner to Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Business Development, and other functional leaders.
This is not a traditional executive finance role. We are looking for a leader who can move effortlessly between hands-on financial operations and high-level strategic discussions with executive leadership and the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to solve operational challenges as they are presenting financial strategy, business performance, and growth initiatives at the executive level.
The ideal candidate thrives in a lean manufacturing environment, embraces accountability, and understands how finance drives operational excellence and long-term business success.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the company's overall financial strategy and execution.
• Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and strategic advisor to the President.
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Business Development, and other functional leaders to drive business performance.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial analysis.
• Oversee P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and capital planning.
• Drive manufacturing finance and cost accounting initiatives that improve profitability and operational performance.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance organization while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Present financial performance, business trends, strategic initiatives, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities while providing actionable recommendations.
• Lead financial process improvements, ERP enhancements, and business transformation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and applicable government contracting regulations.
• Travel as business needs require.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, defense, or government contracting.
• Proven ability to lead in a lean, fast-paced organization where executives are expected to be both strategic and hands-on.
• Strong experience with manufacturing finance and cost accounting.
• Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Proven ability to build, lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams.
• Executive presence with exceptional communication skills and the ability to confidently present financial information to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Demonstrated ability to seamlessly pivot between tactical financial execution and strategic business leadership.
• Proven success partnering with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Business Development, and executive leadership to drive business performance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications
• Government contracting experience, including FAR, CAS, DCAA, or DCMA compliance.
• Experience leading ERP implementations or finance system improvements (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
• Treasury, cash management, and working capital experience.
• Internal controls, audit, and compliance experience.
• Business transformation or continuous improvement experience.
• Previous experience as a Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller, or senior finance leader ready for the next step.
• CPA or MBA is preferred but not required.
The successful candidate is a collaborative, business-minded finance executive who understands that leadership requires both strategic vision and operational execution.
This individual must be able to:
• Roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team when needed.
• Quickly pivot from reviewing financial details to presenting strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Communicate complex financial information in a clear, concise, and influential manner.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships throughout the organization.
• Challenge the status quo while driving continuous improvement.
• Lead with integrity, accountability, and a servant leadership mindset.
• Inspire, mentor, and develop others while helping position the organization for continued growth.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys making a meaningful impact, influencing business strategy, and helping shape the future of a growing manufacturing organization.
